Bleeding gums

Do your gums bleed when you brush? Gum inflammation (gingivitis) is the first sign of developing periodontitis, so do not take it lightly. Fortunately gingivitis is reversible, but it can easily turn into periodontitis, which permanently damages the bone and surrounding tissues.

Gums bleed where dental plaque builds up because of insufficient cleaning. See a dentist or a dental hygienist who will show you how to solve the problem.

What to do about gum inflammation

The key is a better brushing technique and suitable cleaning aids. In some patients gum inflammation is not visible at first sight, typically in smokers or in people who brush correctly but do not use interdental brushes. In them the disease often progresses unnoticed, which makes it all the more dangerous. Bleeding gums are then revealed only by a special examination.

We therefore recommend a dental hygiene appointment, where the problem can be detected early and treated. Once your brushing technique improves, medicated mouthwashes can be added.
