Decay in the dentine (deep cavities)

Surface cavities do not hurt, but later the tooth may become sensitive to temperature changes (cold or heat) and to sweet or sour food.

The dentist can detect an early cavity only on an X-ray or with special devices such as DiagnoCam. By looking or probing, decay is found only at a more advanced stage when the damage is visible.

• the cavity should be treated as soon as possible, because it gradually spreads towards the dental pulp and may cause pulp inflammation
